Each Nantucket purse is hand woven using rattan or cane onto cherry wooden molds with bases also made from cherry wood. Our handmade purses are decorated with carved or scrimshawed pieces of cane or cherry wood, and the handles are made from cherry wood also, making for a sturdy design from top to bottom. We also will personalize your purse with your name or initials. A monogrammed purse makes a special gift for friends and relatives.

The creel purse is 8'' x4-1/8 x6". It resembles a fishing creel and comes with a wooden top attached with leather straps and a magnetic closure. This purse hangs from a 42" solid leather strap. It comes with a 3" name engraved quarterboard and a top decoration if you wish. The plain top is also nice. A year dated penny is on the bottom inside of the purse.

This purse has a cherry base and top and is woven with reed staves and cane weaver. The purse hangs from a braided cherry colored leather strap. The inside cover is adorned with a name engraved quarterboard and a whale carving on top.

A new and nautical look in a small Nantucket Lightship Basket. The ditty bag is the perfect purse for a sailing fan or nautical enthusiast. The bag is made from a 6 inch open round Nantucket basket. It has a cherry wood base, staves and wide rim. The basket is woven in the authentic method and is signed and dated by Lisa Bessette. The brenton red canvas lining is attached under the rim with brass grommets and screws. The top of the liner is gathered with a nautical, nylon rope, tied into a monkey fist. A fun new design!
